Our Story

At Kurtis Kitchen & Bath, we are proud to have been a leader in Michigan's home remodeling industry for over 55 years. Our journey began in 1968 when Louis Kuretzky founded the company with a single location for wholesale countertops and stock kitchen and bath cabinets. Over the years, we have evolved to meet the changing needs of our customers, always staying true to our family-owned values.

Our History

Kurtis Kitchen & Bath was founded by Louis Kuretzky in 1968 in Warren, Michigan. We started as a wholesaler of countertops and stock kitchen and bath cabinets. Three years later, Kurtis opened its first retail showroom in Detroit as one of Michigan's first kitchen and bathroom remodeling businesses to provide on-site inventory and contract services to help Do-It-Yourself (DIY) clients and small contractors.

In the years that followed, Kurtis continued to grow and expand its services. In 1969, Louis's sons, Howard and Marty Kuretzky, joined the business. In 1986, Kurtis launched its wholesale division to assist the trade. Wayne Weintraub joined Kurtis as VP of Operations in 1994 to help facilitate growth and success with necessary business changes. The growth required a move to a larger warehouse and distribution facility in Livonia.

In 1999, Kurtis developed a full-service installation division, providing carpentry, electrical, plumbing, drywall, and tile services. Howard's son, Aaron Kuretzky, joined Kurtis in 1999. In 2014, Kurtis remodelled all four showrooms in the Metro Detroit area to stay on trend. Kurtis commits to updating the showrooms yearly to stay up to date with everything new in the market. Wayne's son, David Weintraub, joined Kurtis in 2014.
